For daily downwinders I recommend to be stationed in Jericoacoara. The place is magical and offers anything you can wish for. The wind season is long and impressive. The area is super interesting and safe. Daily downwinders around Jeri are perfect because they can be very adjustable. We can kitesurf from just a few kilometers per day, up to 50km a day, and still in the same day be back in Jeri for a lovely dinner / cocktail with a sunset view.

For long distance downwinders, we can kitesurf more then 600km from Fortaleza to Atins (Lencois Maranhenses). Visiting lagoons and special places on the way. Usually for 300km we plan 7 days, also it’s doable in 4-5 days as well, but few extra days allow us the time to stay longer and enjoy spots that you like on the way. Here is the full route:

Downwind 1 (300km): 7 days from Cumbuco (Fortaleza) to Jericoacoara, kitesurfing from village to village: start : Cumbuco, Taiba, Paracuru, Lagoinha, Guajiru, Flecheiras, Emboaca, Baleia, Icarai de Amontada (Icaraizinho), Moitas rivermouth, Ilha do Guajiru, Barrinha, Prea, Jericoacoara (Malhada beach) : finish!

Downwind 2 (300km): 7 days from Jericoacoara to Atins : start : Jeri (Malhada beach), Guriu, Tatajuba, Camocim, Maceio, Curimas, Bitupita, Cajueiro da Praia, Barra Grande, Macapa, Vila Itaqui (Farol do Itaqui), Luis Correia reef, Pedra do Sal, Parnaiba river delta, Tutoia (around shipwreck), Arpoador (channels), Atins, Lencois Maranhenses : finish!

All lagoons: Cauipe lagoon, Taiba lagoon, Ilha do Guajiru, Lago do Paraiso, Jericoacoara lagoon (only in December), Lago Grande Tatajuba, Guriu spot, Lencois Maranhenses lagoons.

Grand Total more then 600km kitesurfing downwind.
